He was always waiting with a high five after the finished their routines. Amazing energy!!
Lucas Fare – Te Awamutu Intermediate
Lucas pulled his team together after losing 3 games in a row. The boys were saying they shouldn’t be there, they’re not good enough, and Lucas gave them a pep talk about trying their best. He told them he was proud to be a part of the team, and that you never know what will happen next. They played their next game and came away with a draw!
Isla Freeman - Waihi College
Coming off injured and still cheering her team on until she lost her voice
Whangārei Heads school netball team - Whangarei Heads School
Despite a no win record and staring down the barrel of absolute last place out of the hundreds of teams here, this awesome motley crew have never once let their heads drop, or given up. Gave it 100% the whole time. Serious resilience and awesome attitudes. Lots of players brand new to the game showed heaps of determination to keep learning through mistakes and rules very new to them. Couldn't be prouder of them. About to play their last game, with slim hope of a win but they are all smiles and support for each other - Totally smashed the pre-game chant as a team and like the winners they are :)
Tatiana Fletcher - Howick Intermediate
While at the netball courts on Wednesday evening, Tatiana picked up plenty of rubbish which wasn’t hers. It was blowing around and on her own she was helping tidy up the courts. Something which was commended by one of the umpires.
Neriah sa’u - Holy Cross School (Papatoetoe)
She was once a really shy and and close person . Now she is the most outstanding outgoing humble friendly little girl . She is the greatest leader holy cross could have ever asked for .

His positive attitude and encouragement towards teammates and opponents alike set a remarkable example for everyone involved. On several occasions, Taaj has gone above and beyond by supporting and acknowledging the efforts of opposing players, even in challenging situations. His ability to maintain composure and kindness, whether in victory or defeat, truly distinguishes him as a role model in our sports community.

Mikylah is always giving out positive energy and enthusiasm on and off the court. She loves sport and loves people. With a smile on her face, she greets each day, each person, and every game. On the court she is positive - never aggressive- but plays hard out giving 100 percent to every thing. She is such a great vibe to be around. This morning, during a meeting reflecting on international mindfulness day, Mikylah spread joy about being here at AIMS and celebrating the moments.
Maddy Clarke - Henderson Intermediate
Maddy played an outstanding game in the quarter finals against a strong team who through their spectators and Team were noisey and intimidating came through still smiling and giving it her best and her team came back to win the game. There was a lot of adversity and not so great sportsmanship from the other team, but through it all the team held strong, kept their composure and played fair. With a few knocks to the body Maddy recovered well and made the goals count. She always plays fair and respectful no matter the team and so it was great to see that shine through and role model those behaviour as a co-captain. Ka Rewa Maddy. Keep up the good honest work you do

Helping his friend with homesickness. A hug, kind word or simple check in was noticed and appreciated.
Mylo Bywater – Pyes Pa School
Mylo, who is not playing due to a broken arm, quietly went out of his way to pick up multiple pieces of dropped rubbish. Great to see him keeping our Tauranga Moana clean and respecting our land. Even though the littering annoyed him he held mana and was very respectful.
Levi Gruebner - Option 369
Levi spent 7 hours traveling all the way from Coopers Beach in the Far North to represent Oruaiti School in year 8 surfing.... Levi surfed to the quarter finals in very small swell but maintained a positive attitude and had a great time mingling with his fellow surfers from Around NZ, now making the big trek home via Raglan for a quick surf we thank the AIMS Games team for such an amazing experience and superbly run event!!
Harlem Hope-Jensen – Orewa College
Harlem believes there's no 'I' in team. He's grown up knowing that there is no game without the opposing team, refs and coaches. To see Harlem thank the opposing players and then go out of his way to run over to the refs walking away to thank them is a reflection of his appreciation to all involved to make the game he loves to play. He believes a little bit of kindness and positivity go a long way. What he lacks in skill he makes up for in team spirit. Very proud of this kid.
Andrew Kumkee – Clendon Park School
We (Highlands Intermediate) played a very physical and competitive game against Clendon. Emotions were running high on both teams, fighting for top 16 spot. We came away with the win, leaving a sad and disappointed Clendon team and many supporters. After the game commenced, Andrew came over to our team and hugged and congratulated everyone of our players, coaches and management.
