Concussion is a brain injury that can occur in any sport and at any age. It’s caused by the impact of force (a blow) to a part of the body, not necessarily the head directly.
The three R’s (recognise, remove, refer) are important when dealing with concussion.
Any player with a suspected concussion (recognise) should immediately be removed from play and should not return to activity until they are assessed by a doctor (refer).
